Prices quoted are for bamboos in 200mm (8") pots unless otherwise stated and are  quoted ex-farm. We can arrange delivery in some instances. We can also supply large offsets to order. Discounts apply for large orders. Species availability is subject to season.

 

Non-invasive Clumping bamboos:

 

Bambusa arundinacea-"Giant thorny bamboo". From India, 20-25 metre timber bamboo with edible shoots. Large thorns lower down in the culm branches. Quick grower, seedlings available. 200mm pot $10 140mm pot $6

 

Bambusa balcooa- 20-25 metre Indian timber bamboo reasonable timber although the plant branches low down. Hardy screen bamboo. 300mm pot $20

 

Bambusa cornigera-"Ox horn bamboo". A fast growing hedge bamboo that grows to 10 metres. Useful timber. $15

 

Bambusa lako-"Timor black bamboo". A great ornamental bamboo that grows to 20 metres. Dark purplish culms with peppermint stripes. $20

 

Bambusa multiplex-"Oriental hedge bamboo". Small leaved hedging bamboo that grows to 8 metres. Comes in a number of varieties sporting different colours and sizes. Drought and frost tolerant. $15

 

Bambusa oldhamii-"Oldham's sweetshoot bamboo". This is a tidy upright clumper that grows to about 18 meters. This plant boasts commercial quality shoots and provides useful timber. This plant is also used as a windbreak. Frost tolerant to -9degrees C. $15

 

Bambusa textilis-"Weavers bamboo". This is a small leaved hedge bamboo that grows to 10 metres. A great landscaping feature with clean culms lower down. The thin walled culms are easily split for craft. Frost tolerant. $20

 

Bambusa ventricosa- "Buddha Belly". This hedging bamboo grows very quickly to about 8-10 metres. Makes a great windbreak. The internodes bulge when the plant is stressed. Drought and frost tolerant. $15

 

Bambusa vulgaris "Vittata"- "Painted bamboo". Pretty ornamental that grows to 25 metres in good conditions. Yellow with green stripes. Open clumping habit. 200mm pot $15 300mm pot $20

 

Bambusa vulgaris "Wamin"- "Giant Buddha Belly". Ornamental that grows to 10 metres. The plant is stunted due to the bulging internodes. Great landscaping plant. 200mm pot $15 300mm pot $20

 

Dendrocalamus brandisii- Reputedly the world's tallest bamboo at 35 metres. While unlikely to grow that high in subtropical areas it is still a large and spectacular plant. Good timber and edible shoots. $20

 

Dendrocalamus minor var. amoenus “ghost bamboo” A spectacular ornamental bamboo that sports silica powder on the culms giving a whitish appearance. Grows to about 12 metres. $25

 

Dendrocalamus strictus- "Calcutta bamboo" Indian timber bamboo that grows to 20 metres. Drought and frost tolerant. Seedlings available 200mm pots $10 140mm pots $6

Gigantochloa atter- Indonesian timber bamboo grows to 20 metres. Straight branch free culms and edible shoots. Vigorous grower. $18

 

Gigantochloa levis-Timber and shoots to 20 metres very vigorous. $15

 

Gigantochloa luteo striata- "South Kalimantan" tidy ornamental striped leaves and striated culms, grows to 6 metres. $15

 

Gigantochloa maxima-Large timber bamboo grows to 25 Metres. Striated culms make this an attractive ornamental. $15

 

Nastus elatus- Pretty plant from New Guinea. Top quality shoots. Grows to 20 metres. $25

 

Schizostachyum brachycladum- "Sacred Bali Bamboo". Upright ornamental to 12 metres. Yellow culms with green stripes, striped leaves, very pretty. $20

 

Schizostachyum jaculans- "Blow pipe bamboo" Upright tidy clumper. Internodes over 600mm long. Grows to 6-8 metres. $15

 

Schizostachyum "Murray Island". Native from Torres Straight. Tight at base with mushroom shaped top. Great landscaping feature. $20

 

Schizostachyum zollingeri- Tidy, tight and upright ornamental that grows to 6 metres. $15

 

Grasses:

 

Thysanolaena maxima- "Tiger Grass". Tidy tight clumping grass that grows to 3 metres. Large "bamboo like" leaves. $12
